Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer

Part Time: Up to 20 hours per week (Including Evening Meetings)

Scale Range LC2 Starting Salary according to experience and ability.

Essington Parish Council is a dynamic forward looking busy local Council in South Staffordshire supporting a large community bordering Walsall and Wolverhampton. We are seeking to recruit an experienced Parish Clerk/RFO to support and continue the work of the existing Council to make us more professional and effective.

In addition to the normal duties of a Parish Clerk/ RFO the successful candidate is expected to liaise with several tenants and long-term users of our various sports and Community facilities and to ensure that proper contractual arrangements are in place.

The Clerk/RFO will be supported by an Administrative Assistant who looks after facilities bookings, data entry and answer Resident’s queries. A part time Caretaker looks after the centre facilities we have a Bar, Café, and Retail shop both operated by franchises and several other recreation venues on long term leases. We operate the RBS Accounting and facilities booking system and the Clerk/RFO will be expected to approve expenditure and to use the output from the system to compile appropriate reports for the Council.

Applicants must already hold a CiLCA qualification to allow us to invoke General Powers of Competence, as necessary.

The post will qualify for membership of the Staffordshire County Council Pension Scheme
