Essington Parish Council – Annual Parish Meeting. APM24

The Annual Parish Meeting held on the 13th of May 2024, 7pm-8pm in the Council Chamber, at Essington Community Centre, Hobnock Road, Essington, WV112RF.

Present: Chairman: Chris Steel & Louise Tipler- Clerk
1. Apologies- None
2. Chairman’s Address – The Chairman gave a brief report of what the Council had achieved during the last year and gave a summary of plans for the coming year 2024/25.
3. Public Participation – 6 Members of the Public were in attendance.
Members of the Public raised several issues.
. Parking on the Highway, causing obstruction- Residents should report direct to Highway’s including photographs if possible.
. Abandoned Vehicles – should be reported to Highways or the Police.
. Unsociable behaviour. – Should be reported to the Police.
. Dog Fouling- Whilst there are dog litter bins provided and more notices have been put up around the Village dog fouling continues to be a huge problem. Residents should be reminded that spot checks are carried out and a hefty fine will be implemented to anyone breaching the rules.
. Highways- speed restrictions and signage on Long Lane. A concerned resident of Long Lane mentioned the speed limit approaching the bridge in Long Lane which is currently national 60mph. A 30mph sign is in place over the other side of the Bridge, however, it is considered to be situated in the wrong place. This has previously been raised with Highways, resident will report, District Councillor will raise.
